Wesley Herring joined Furman in September of 2019 as Assistant Athletic Communications Director before being promoted to Director of Athletic Communications in 2023. He serves as the primary contact for the Paladins' volleyball, women's lacrosse, and men's tennis programs.
Herring joined the Paladins following six years at USC Upstate, where he held the title of assistant athletic communications director and later associate director. During his time in Spartanburg, he served as the primary contact for a wide variety of sports, including men's and women's basketball, volleyball, cross country, track & field, men's soccer, men's and women's golf, men's tennis, and softball.
In addition he was the liaison to the USC Upstate Athletics Hall of Fame Committee and was a member of the USC Upstate 50th Anniversary Committee.
Prior to his time at USC Upstate he served as assistant SID at Fayetteville State University from 2012-13.
A Dillon, S.C., native, Herring worked as a media relations student assistant at Winthrop University before graduating in 2008 with a degree in sport management. Honored as Winthrop's Sport Management Intern of the Year and recipient of the school's NASPE Award his senior year, he went on to serve his alma mater as media relations intern (2008-12) for the Eagles' women's soccer and baseball programs before accepting his first full-time position at Fayetteville State.
He and his wife, Katelyn, reside in Easley. They have two daughters, Millie Kate and Madelyn.
