Dan Scott

A mainstay in South Carolina Upstate broadcasting over the last two decades, Dan Scott is entering his 12th season as Furman’s Director of Broadcasting and “Voice of the Paladins,” having joined the department in 2011.

In his current role Scott serves as the play-by-play voice of Paladin football and men’s basketball, in addition to hosting coaching shows and podcasts covering the full spectrum of Furman sports, coaches, student-athletes, and staff.

In 2020 he played a pivotal role in Furman partnering to make Paladin football and men’s basketball broadcasts available over The Fan Upstate’s four powerhouse stations: 97.7 FM/1330 AM in Greenville, and 97.1 FM/950 AM in Spartanburg — the top-rated sports talk presence in the Greenville-Spartanburg market that he also serves as a frequent guest host.

In 2018 Scott was named the play-by-play voice of the Greenville Drive, the Boston Red Sox Class A affiliate.

Over the last 20 years he has hosted “The Dan Scott Show”, currently a weekly one-hour show podcast.  From 2001-12 it was a daily three-hour talk show that reached the top five for its time slot in the Greenville-Spartanburg market.

Prior to coming to Furman he served as play-by-play voice of Clemson’s baseball and women’s basketball from November of 2005 through June of 2011.

A native of Williamson, W.Va., Scott worked as a sports writer and editor for a number of newspapers from 1990-2001 and was twice recognized by the West Virginia Press Association for Best Sports Page.

Scott, who has generously used his radio platform to support many Upstate charities over the years, serves as a Deacon at Utica Baptist Church in Seneca, S.C.

He and his wife Angela, have two children and three grandchildren.
