Sophomore Ally Hock recorded a team-high nine kills Saturday against the College of Charleston, but it was not enough to overcome the Cougar attack, as the Furman volleyball team fell 30-25, 30-15, 30-21 at the Johnson Center.
In addition to Hock's offensive contribution, Chibuzo Aguocha tallied seven kills and eight digs, while Rosey Cashman tallied a team-best nine digs for Furman in the match.
The C of C Cougars, preseason favorite to win the Southern Conference, improved to 11-5 overall and 4-1 in the Southern Conference, and were led by Sara Davis and Tiffany Blum, who totaled 12 and 11 kills, respectively.
With the loss, Furman falls to 7-8 overall and 2-2 in the Southern Conference. The Lady Paladins return home Tuesday night, when they play host to the Tigers of Clemson in a 7 p.m. match at Timmons Arena.
