Three Lady Paladin volleyball players recorded double figure kills Tuesday night, but it was not enough to overcome the Clemson duo of Leslie Finn and Lori Ashton, as Furman fell 30-25, 30-25, 30-28 to the Tigers at Timmons Arena.
Freshman Chibuzo Aguocha tallied 16 kills and a .275 attack percentage, while Whitney Purser added 11 kills and Julia Fredrickson tallied 10. In addition, Fredrickson put down seven blocks in leading the Lady Paladin net defense to a 10.0 to 5.0 advantage over the Tigers. Furman also served up five aces to Clemson's two, but were outhit on the night .299 to .202 for the difference in the match.
The Tigers' Finn topped the Clemson offense with 18 kills, but Ashton was the most efficient hitter with a .560 attack percentage in the match. She was particularly lethal in game one, connecting on six of eight attempts for a .750 mark.
With the win, Clemson improves to 9-7 overall, while Furman falls to 7-9 on the season. The Lady Paladins return to action on Saturday, when they host the Davidson Wildcats at 2 p.m. in Timmons Arena.
