The Lady Paladin volleyball team evened its season record at 1-1 Friday night with a 28-30, 30-28, 31-29, 30-32, 15-10 decision over the Pirates of East Carolina in the ECU Invitational.
Freshman outside hitter Chibuzo Aguocha racked up 26 kills, a .545 hitting percentage, 10 digs, three blocks and two service aces to lead the Lady Paladins to victory. Sophomore Whitney Purser added 25 kills to the Furman effort, while Julia Fredrickson kicked in 12 and Ally Hock contributed 10 kills and 16 digs.
Senior libero Rosey Cashman anchored the Furman passing game and tallied a team-high 18 digs, while junior setter Molly Rybak totaled 66 assists with 16 digs. Freshman outside hitter Stacie Plein paced the Lady Paladin net defense with five blocks. Furman outblocked ECU 11.0 to 8.0, hit .272, with 10 service aces, and totaled 77 digs in the marathon match.
The Lady Paladins return to action on Saturday with matches in the ECU Invitational scheduled against High Point and Mercer.
