AUBURN, Alabama - In the first match of day two of the Mizuno/Auburn Challenge, intrastate rival Clemson defeated the Furman volleyball team 3-0 (30-24, 30-26, 30-24) to send the Lady Paladin record to 3-6 on the season.

Junior Ally Hock (Oviedo, Fla.) tallied 12 kills and hit .200 to pace the Furman offense, while setter Courtney Stewardson (Apple Valley, Minn.) recorded 26 assists and 11 digs in the loss. Kim Tonkin (Marietta, Ga.) paced the Furman back row defense with 15 digs, while sophomore Kerry Wooten (Hamptonville, N.C.) anchored the net defense with 1 block solo and four block assists.

The Tigers were led in their winning effort by Jeannette Abbot's 12 kills and Anna Vallinch's 19 digs.

The Lady Paladins will complete their competition in the Mizuno-Auburn classic later today, with a 4 p.m. match against Alabama A&M.
