AUBURN, Alabama - Furman's Lady Paladin volleyball tem improved to 4-6 on the year with a 3-0 (30-28, 30-26, 30-22) victory over Alabama A&M, Saturday at the Mizuno-Auburn Challenge.

Whitney Purser paced the Furman squad with nine kills and 13 digs, while freshman Alison West put up strong numbers with a .462 attack percentage on seven kills. Sophomore Courtney Stewardson hit .571 with four kills and tallied 34 assists, while Celestee Wilson led the net defense with four block assists.

Furman returns to action on Friday, Sept. 23, when the Lady Paladins open the 2005 home slate with a 7 p.m. match against College of Charleston. The C of C game will mark the opening of Furman's newly renovated Alley Gym, which gives the Lady Paladins the only volleyball-specific facility in the Southern Conference.
