The Furman women's tennis team improved to 10-6 on the year, 4-0 in conference play with a 7-0 win over non-conference opponent Samford Sunday afternoon. With the loss the Bulldogs fell to 7-4.
Furman quickly took the doubles point with Laura Gioia and Marti Morris winning their flight one match over Sarah McKey and Emily White and Lady Paladin teammates Lisa Bornt-Davis and Shannon Moore downing Whitnie Warren and Christie Baker in flight three both by a score of 8-1. Furman also won the flight two doubles match with Jacqueline Eckert and Lauren Osborne defeating Anna Jackson and Katie McMiller 9-8(6).
Furman went on to win all six singles matches to secure the shutout on the day. At No.1 Laura Gioia hit her way to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Anna Jackson while Marti Morris recorded a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Katie McMiller at No.2. In flight three Shannon Moore won her match over Emily White in a third set tiebreaker 6-2, 6-7(4), 10-4 and Bonnie Baird defeated Whitnie Warren 6-0, 6-3 in flight four. Jacqueline Eckert won her flight five match 6-2, 6-3 over Sarah McKey and in the flight six match Natasa Manojlovic posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Amber Dyar.
The Lady Paladins return to action on Saturday, April 1 when they travel to Chattanooga, TN for a 11:00 AM match against UT Chattanooga.
