CHATTANOOGA, TENN. -- No. 68 Furman slipped past Wofford, 4-2, Friday in the semifinals of the 2026 Southern Conference Championship at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.

With the win, the top-seeded Paladins (17-4, 7-0 SoCon) advance to the finals of the league championships for the ninth-consecutive time.  Furman will square off against No. 2 seed East Tennessee State Saturday at 11 a.m. with the winner earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.  The Paladins and Bucs are meeting in the title match for the ninth-straight tournament, and Furman has won six of the previous eight match ups.

Furman won matches at flights one and three to score the doubles point.  Freshman Lillie Murphy and Elle Warren, who rank 46th nationally, blew past Grace Agster and Quinn Bernthal, 6-1, at number one, and freshmen Sasha Dimitrov and Molly Robinson held off Katie Godfree and Marie Henriksen, 6-4.  The flight two match was unfinished. 

Wofford (12-8) scored the first two singles points to take a 2-1 lead.  Ella Suk recorded a 6-0, 6-2 advantage over freshman Bianca Ceroni at number three, then Godfree beat junior Macy Hitchcock, 7-5, 6-1, at number four to give the Terriers the lead.  

The Paladins answered with wins in the next three singles contests for the victory. Freshman Lily Doherty topped Henriksen, 6-2, 6-3, at flight six, and Dimitrov won in a third set over Chloe Elliott, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1, at flight five.  Warren clinched the match by beating Bernthal, 7-6(4), 6-4, at flight two.

The flight one match was unfinished, with Murphy leading Agster, 3-6, 6-4, 3-2.
