Women's Soccer Plays To Scoreless Draw At College of Charleston

Mt. Pleasant, S.C. -- Junior Jessica Smith recorded her sixth shutout of the season as the Furman women's soccer team played to a 0-0 double overtime draw versus the College of Charleston at Patriots Point on Friday evening.

The draw moved Furman to 8-6-3 overall and 3-3-3 in the Southern Conference while College of Charleston moved to 7-9-1 overall and 4-4-1 in league play.

The Paladins created several first half chances as Martha Hall and Meagan Zusi put shots on goal, but the Cougars got the best of the opportunities late.  Charleston outshot Furman 9-2 in the second half and forced Smith into five saves over two overtime periods while outshooting the Paladins 7-0 in extra time.

Katie Tate, who totaled four saves, earned the shutout for Charleston.  Smith registered nine saves to earn the clean sheet for Furman.

The Paladins continue their three-match road trip on Sunday when they visit The Citadel for a 2 p.m. match.
