Volleyball Concludes 2010 Home Season in Senior Night Match Versus UNC Greensboro

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman volleyball team will conclude the 2010 home season when the Paladins play host to the UNC Greensboro Spartans Saturday night at 7 p.m. in Alley Gymnasium.  The Paladins will honor their seniors, Brooke Ellison and Katherine Hall, in the duo's final home match.

This match will be the 31st meeting between the two schools. The Paladins defeated the Spartans, 3-2, in Greensboro last season, to take a 22-8 advantage in the series. 

UNC Greensboro enters Friday night's match against Elon with a 19-8 overall and 7-5 SoCon record.  The Spartans defeated Chattanooga 3-2 last weekend.  

Furman defeated Wofford 3-1 Wednesday night to improve to 15-10 overall and 9-4 .  Sophomore Caroline Adams posted a double-double with 17 kills and 20 blocks, plus added six blocks to lead the Paladins.

With Furman's 3-0 win over Davidson last weekend, the Paladins clinched a berth in the 2010 SoCon Tournament.  The tournament will take place on Nov. 19-21 at the Holmes Convocation Center in Boone, N.C.  The quarterfinal matches will take place on Nov. 19 beginning at 10 a.m. (#2 North vs. #3 South), match two at 12:30 p.m. (#1 South vs. #4 North), match three at 4:30 p.m. (#1 North vs. #4 South), and match four at 7 p.m. (#2 South vs. #3 North).  All game times and matchups may change due to the host being guaranteed the 7 p.m. game time.  

The semifinal matches will be held on Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The Southern Conference Women's Volleyball Championship will conclude on Nov. 21 with the championship match at 2 p.m.  Tickets are available for purchase on-line at www.soconsports.com or at www.goasu.com.
