Box Score Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's
soccer team returns to Stone Stadium on Wednesday looking to extend
its run of recent success against upstate rival Clemson when
the Tigers visit the Furman University campus for a 7 p.m.
match.
The Paladins followed up a 2-1 victory over Clemson at Stone
Stadium in 2008 with a 1-0 triumph over the Tigers at Historic
Riggs Field last season. Wednesday's match marks the
51st all-time meeting between Furman and Clemson with the Tigers
holding a 38-9-3 series advantage.
Furman enters the match at 4-2-0 after splitting a pair of games
at this past weekend's Nike/Aaron Olitsky Memorial Classic in
Mt. Pleasant, S.C. After falling to Lehigh 1-0 on Friday,
freshman Michael Channel netted two goals in just his second
collegiate match to guide Furman to a 2-1 victory over Bucknell on
Sunday afternoon. Paladins Nicky MacKain and Jacob Brown each
earned all-tournament honors at the 10th annual classic.
Clemson is 0-3-1 on the season following a draw against Atlantic
Coast Conference rival Virginia Tech this past weekend.
