Kirby each recorded nine kills to lead the Furman volleyball
team in the Paladins' 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-23) loss at Alabama in
the second round of the Bama Bash Friday night in Tuscaloosa,
Ala.
The Crimson Tide won set one 25-20 and set two 25-14, before the
Paladins came back to build an early 10-7 lead in the third
set. The two teams battled to a 22-22 tie but Furman was
unable to hold off a late surge by Alabama, as the Crimson Tide
took the last set 25-23 for the match victory.
Freshman Sarah
McCarthy led the Paladins with 15 assists, and sophomore Natalie
Braun recorded a team-high 10 digs. Braun and sophomore
Caroline
Adams each posted five blocks in the match.
Furman (2-3) will face Toledo Saturday at 11 a.m. in the final
round of the Bama Bash in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
