Chattanooga Downs Furman, 85-69

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. -- Kayla Christopher poured in 30 points to propel Chattanooga to an 85-69 victory over Furman in Southern Conference women's basketball action Tuesday evening at the McKenzie Center.

The victory was the 19th consecutive win by Chattanooga (6-8, 3-2 SoCon) over Furman (6-7, 2-2 SoCon), which dropped its fourth straight game.

Christopher drained 11-of-15 field goal attempts, including 6-of-8 3-pointers, and a pair of free throws in leading the Mocs, who got 24 points from Whitney Hood and 12 points from Kylie Lambert, who also chipped in a game high six assists.

Kelly O'Connor paced Furman with 19 points, and Kaitlin Murphy added 17.

Chattanooga blistered the nets at a 51.6 percent clip, finding the mark on 32-of-62 field goals.  The Mocs were also nearly perfect at the free throw line, converting 14-of-15 attempts.

Furman shot 46.3 percent from the field (25x54) and made 13-of-17 free throws (76.5 percent).

The Paladins were clubbed on the boards, 40-24, with UTC's Bailey Dewart claiming a game high 11 caroms.

A Raegan Thompson 3-pointer three minutes into the game gave Furman an 8-5 lead, but UTC answered with 16-2 run over the next six minutes to take a 21-10 advantage following a Christopher 3-pointer with 11:02 to go in the first half.

The Mocs led 34-23 at intermission and 40-30 two minutes into the second half before taking control of the contest with 9-0 run capped by Lambert's 3-point play with 15:38 to go that made it 49-30.

The Paladins wrap up their season long five-game road swing Thursday night at Samford.  Tipoff is set for 8:00 p.m. ET.
