Furman vs. CofC Game Notes
Charleston, S.C. – The Furman men's basketball team continues its two-game Lowcountry road trip on Saturday when it battles College of Charleston with first place in the Southern Conference South Division on the line. Tip-off at the Carolina First Arena is set for 4 p.m. with the SoCon showdown scheduled to air live on CSS.
Furman enters the game at 17-6 overall and 9-3 in the SoCon after downing The Citadel 59-55 on Thursday evening at McAlister Fieldhouse. Darryl Evans and Noah States each scored 12 points as the Paladins snapped the Bulldogs four-game winning streak. The victory, Furman's sixth in its last seven games, gave the Paladins eight wins away from Timmons Arena for the first time since the 1986-87 campaign.
College of Charleston improved to 16-7 overall and 9-2 in the league with a dominating 79-54 win over Wofford on Thursday. Andrew Goudelock, the SoCon's leading scorer, netted 25 points to pace the Cougars to the victory.
Saturday's game marks the 76th all-time meeting between the Paladins and Cougars with Furman holding a 40-35 series advantage. Charleston, however, has won 24 of the last 27 meetings and five straight. The Cougars, 76-72 winners at Timmons Arena on January 6, have won all 12 regular season games versus the Paladins in Charleston since joining the SoCon in the late 1990's. Furman's last win on CofC's home court came during the 1952-53 season.
