Box Score Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman men's soccer team opens its 2011 home schedule on Monday when it hosts the 16th-ranked Duke Blue Devils at Stone Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Paladins, ranked No. 30 in College Soccer News' Preseason Poll, enter the match at 0-0-1 after playing to a scoreless draw at Campbell on Friday afternoon. Furman outshot the Camels and limited the home side to just one shot on goal, but Martin Ontiveros' penalty kick in the final minutes of regulation was saved as the Paladins were forced to settle for a tie.
Duke opened its season with a 3-2 loss at UNC Greensboro on Friday evening. Andrew Wenger, a preseason all-america pick, scored a pair of second half goals, but the Blue Devils were unable to recover from a 3-0 deficit.
Monday's match marks the 10th all-time meeting between the schools with Duke holding an 8-1-0 series lead. The Blue Devils downed Furman 4-0 in Durham, N.C., last season.
