Johnson City, Tenn. -- The 23rd-ranked Furman men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against 22nd-ranked East Tennessee State on Sunday afternoon at Summers-Taylor Stadium in Johnson City, Tenn.

The tie snapped Furman's seven-match winning streak, but extended the Paladins' unbeaten run to eight matches as they moved to 7-1-2 on the season.  The draw brought ETSU's record to 6-1-1.

Furman had the majority of the scoring chances on the afternoon outshooting the home side 18-12 and holding a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal.  The Paladins managed just four shots in the opening period with junior Coleton Henning forcing Buccaneer goalkeeper Ryan Coulter into a 26th minute save.

In the second half, Furman took the attack to ETSU recording a 10-3 edge in shot attempts and forcing Coulter into five saves.  The Buccaneers tested Furman keeper Alec Kann just once in the period as the senior stopped an Itode Fubara shot in the 89th minute.

ETSU had the only two shots during the first 10-minute overtime period, but Furman outshot the Bucs 5-0 in the second stanza with Coulter called on to save a goal-bound Martin Ontiveros shot in the 108th minute to preserve the draw.

Coulter finished with seven saves while Kann stopped three shots to notch his fifth shutout of the season for the Paladins.  Kann's 15 career shutouts ranks first among all active goalkeepers in the Southern Conference.

The Paladins return homes to host USC Upstate in a non-conference showdown on Tuesday at Stone Soccer Stadium.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
