Box Score

Greenville, S.C. -- Senior Alec Kann has been named Southern Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week after guiding Furman, ranked 23rd in the latest Soccer America Top 25, to a 1-0-1 record this past weekend.

The Paladins' goalkeeper led his club to a 3-1 victory over Presbyterian on Friday night before posting his fifth shutout of the campaign in a 0-0 draw at 22nd-ranked East Tennessee State on Sunday afternoon as Furman extended its unbeaten streak to eight consecutive matches.  A native of Decatur, Ga., Kann stopped three shot in each match to fashion a 0.45 goal against average over 200 minutes of action against the Blue Hose and Buccaneers.

Kann, who boasts a 0.57 GAA this season, moved into 15th in SoCon history with his 15th career clean sheet on Sunday.  He leads all active SoCon goalkeepers in career wins (30), goals against average (1.01) and shutouts (15).  The player of the week nod is the second for Kann who also earned the honor on September 6.

Furman (7-1-2) returns to action this evening when it hosts USC Upstate (3-3-0) at 7 p.m. at Stone Soccer Stadium.  Tickets for tonight's match are available at www.FurmanPaladins.com or at the gate.  Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for children.  Furman students get in free with a valid Student ID.
