Box Score GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Alyssa Frye scored 18 points and Jillian Brown tallied 16 to lift College of Charleston past Furman, 68-61, in women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at Timmons Arena.
The win snapped a seven-game losing skid for College of Charleston (7-22, 6-14 SoCon) and the loss was the fourth in the last five games for Furman (13-15, 9-10 SoCon).
Furman led 45-38 with just under 10 minutes to go before College of Charleston put together a 16-2 run to take a 54-47 lead following a Frye 3-pointer with 3:28 to go. The Paladins could get no closer than five points the rest of the way.
Keying the victory for the Cougars was a 58-39 rebounding advantage, led by Cathryn Hardy's 10 boards. The strong work on the glass helped CofC nullify 25 turnovers. The Cougars also connected of 21-of-30 free throws to Furman's 8-of-13.
Both teams shot 35 percent from the field.
Teshia Griswold led Furman with 17 points and Kaitlin Murphy had 14 points.
Furman wraps up its regular season on Monday with a 7:00 clash with Georgia Southern on YP.com Court at Timmons Arena.
