Greenville S.C. – Redshirt freshman Tyler Peoples scored with just 15 seconds left in regulation to help 21st-ranked Furman to a 1-1 draw with East Tennessee State in non-conference men's soccer action on Thursday evening at Stone Stadium.

Trailing 1-0 in the final seconds, Furman goalkeeper Doug Ryan collected a clearance and pushed up the field for a last long ball into the box.  His kick from his own half found the head of Coleton Henning for a flick on at the top of the box.  Peoples ran onto the pass to head a shot by ETSU goalkeeper Ryan Coulter and into the right-hand corner at the 89:45 mark to knot the match at 1-1.

ETSU (4-4-1) threatened to claim the victory in the opening minute of the first overtime period as a long cross found Blaike Woodruff on the left side of the box, but Ryan's kick save kept the match tied.  Furman had its best chance of extra time in the 107th minute when Adrian McInnis unleashed a driving shot from 35 yards out the rattled the cross bar before being cleared away from danger.

"I'm proud of the way we fought to the end against a very, very tough team," said Paladin head coach Doug Allison.  "It's great to score a goal that late and Tyler (Peoples) is making a habit of doing it.  Doug (Ryan) had a great save for us in overtime as well.  Our fans were fantastic tonight right to the end.  We want to thank them, especially the students who skipped a little studying to come support us."

Furman (7-1-2), now unbeaten in its last seven matches, created several scoring opportunities in the opening 45 minutes and controlled the majority of the possession, but it was East Tennessee State that broke the deadlock at the 43:42 mark.  Jeremy Saad passed to David Geno deep in the right corner and he sent a cross top the top of the six-yard box that Alesi Osorio headed past Ryan for his first tally of the season.

The Paladins outshot the Bucs 7-3 in the second half and threatened to pull even on a pair of dangerous free kicks from Martin Ontiveros before Peoples notched the equalizer, his fourth goal in the last three matches, just seconds before the end of the period.

Furman finished with a 19-11 edge in shot attempts, including a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal.  The Paladins earned six corner kicks to just three for ETSU.  There were a total of eight cautions handed out, including three to the Paladins.

Ryan stopped three shots in goal for Furman while Coulter turned away six shots for East Tennessee State.

Furman caps its three-match homestand on Tuesday when it opens Southern Conference play against the College of Charleston.  Kickoff at Stone Stadium is set for 7 p.m.

Tickets for Tuesday night's clash are $4 for adults and $2 for children.  Furman students receive free admission with a valid student ID.
