Box Score Greenville, S.C. – Sophomore Sven Lissek has been named Southern Conference Men's Soccer Player-of-the-Week, it was announced by the SoCon office on Tuesday.
The Sewau, Germany, native dropped his Southern Conference-leading goals against average to 0.44 with a pair of shutouts this past weekend as Furman stretched its unbeaten run to nine matches. Lissek, who has recorded seven solo shutouts this season and led Furman to eight shutouts in its last nine games, stopped three shots, including two in the final seven minutes of regulation to lead Furman to a 0-0 draw at UNCG on Tuesday night.
On Saturday at Davidson, Lissek recorded two saves, highlighted by a diving stop on Alex Feliciano's shot in the final seconds of the first half to improve the Paladins to 8-1-2 overall and 1-0-2 in SoCon play.
Lissek and Furman return to action tonight when the 17th-ranked Paladins visit 15th-ranked Clemson at 7 p.m.
