Starkville, Miss. – Furman and Southern Miss traded second half goals as the Paladins and Golden Eagles played to a 1-1 draw to share the title at Mississippi State's Bulldog Classic on Sunday afternoon in Starkville, Miss.

Furman (3-2-1) broke a scoreless tie in the 52nd minute on Stephanie DeVita's fourth goal of the season and third of the weekend.  Freshman Delaney Sheehan and junior India Robinson combined to play DeVita into space behind the defense and the sophomore drilled a shot inside the far post to give the Paladins a 1-0 lead at the 51:03 mark.

Southern Miss (5-1-2) produced the equalizer in the 65th minute on Ashley Johnson's first goal of the campaign.  Johnson received the ball deep in the box and fired a shot into the top netting to score on assists from Brooke Hendrix and Danica Roberts.

Robinson and freshman Carlie Couch each forced USM goalkeeper Brittany Taylor into saves late in the second half before the match headed to overtime.  The Paladins outshot the Golden Eagles 5-4 over two 10 minute overtime periods before settling for the draw.

Southern Miss managed a 20-18 lead in shot attempts and 7-4 edge in shots on goal.  Johnson recorded three saves for the Golden Eagles while sophomores Rose Hull and Maggie Grisell each stopped three shots apiece for the Paladins.

Robinson was named as the tournament's co-MVP after recording four assists in two matches this weekend.  DeVita and defender Catie Moore were also named to the all-tournament team.
