SoCon Leader Chattanooga Holds Off Furman, 71-54

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Senior Taylor Hall poured in a team-high 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Chattanooga remained undefeated in Southern Conference play with a 71-54 win over Furman Saturday afternoon at Timmons Arena. 

Hall was one of four players in double-figures for the Mocs, as senior Ashlen Dewart added 12 points and eight rebounds, while senior Alex Black tallied 11 points in the win.  Freshman Jasmine Joyner notched a career-high 11 points and a team-high four blocks.  

A three-pointer by freshman Whitney Bunn brought the Paladins within two, 52-50, with 10:29 left in the second half.  The Mocs stretched the lead to five following a free throw by Dewart and a layup by junior Ka'Vonne Towns, before Furman pulled within three, 55-52 off a jumper by junior Sarah Durdaller with 7:27 remaining.

Chattanooga (22-3, 14-0 SoCon) stretched its advantage to six, 58-52 with 6:40 remaining in the game, but Durdaller drained two free throws to keep the Paladins in the game, 58-54, before the Mocs went on a 13-0 run, holding Furman scoreless over the game's final six minutes.  

Sophomore Holli Wilkins led the Paladins with 15 points, draining six of 10 field goals and both of her free throws.  Junior Brittany Hodges added 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while Durdaller registered 12 points, six rebounds, and three blocks in the loss.  Senior Brigid Morrissey led the Paladins with six assists.

Furman (13-11, 7-6 SoCon) continues its home stand Monday when the Paladins entertain Samford at 7 p.m. at Timmons Arena.
