Furman Soccer Tops Terriers In Overtime, 2-1

Box Score

Spartanburg, S.C. -- Freshman Noah Teplitzky lined a shot into the upper right-hand corner less than five minutes into overtime to lift Furman to a 2-1 victory over Wofford in Southern Conference men's soccer action on Thursday evening at Snyder Field in Spartanburg, S.C.

The victory improved the Paladins to 7-5-3 overall and 6-2-1 in the SoCon, while the Terriers slipped to 8-6-2 overall and 3-5-1 in league play.  Furman enters Saturday night's regular season finale versus Mercer just one points behind first place UNCG, who will travel to ETSU for its regular season finale on Saturday.  Kickoff between the Paladins and Bears on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.

In the 95th minute, Marco Carrizales served a corner kick into the Wofford box.  Teplitzky won the ball just inside the top of the box and unleashed a shot towards the right corner that beat Wofford goalkeeper Joe Wichmann for the game-winning score.  It marked the first career goal for Teplitzky.

After a scoreless first half, Wofford grabbed the lead in the 52nd minute when Nestor Jaramillo took a Jonathan Dean pass and belted a shot across the face of goal and into the left-hand corner for his sixth score of the year.

Furman answered less than 12 minutes later as Wofford was whistled for a foul in the box and Eli Pinner converted from the penalty spot at the 63:19 mark to tie the match at 1-1.  The goal was the third of the year for Pinner.

Senior Sven Lissek tallied two saves to earn the victory for Furman, while Wichmann stopped one shot for the Terriers.  Furman held a 10-9 edge in shot attempts with both teams totaling three shots on goal.
