Hawke Garners SoCon Men's Soccer Player Of The Week Honors

Box Score

Greenville, S.C. -- Senior Lewis Hawke was selected as the Southern Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday morning by the league office.

The forward netted a pair of goals to lead Furman to a 6-0 victory over VMI in the SoCon opener on Saturday afternoon in Lexington, Va. Hawke, who leads the Paladins with four goals on the season and netted the game-winning score in a 1-0 victory over nationally-ranked Kentucky earlier in the month, scored in the 54th and 88th minute to help Furman down the Keydets on Saturday.

Furman's four-goal second half marked the second time the Paladins had netted four goals in the second period in the last three games as they rallied from 2-0 down to win 4-3 at Gardner-Webb the previous week. The six goals were the most for a Paladin team since scoring an 8-0 win over Presbyterian in 2013.

The Paladins (5-2-1, 1-0-0 SoCon) are in action tonight on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium when they host the ETSU Bucs at 7 p.m.

Tickets for Tuesday's match are available online at FurmanPaladins.com and can also be purchased at the Stone Stadium gate beginning one hour prior to kickoff. The match will be streamed live on the SoCon Digital Network with Scott Cole calling the action. Live statistics will be available through StatBroadcast. Links for both will be available at FurmanPaladins.com.
