CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Paris Kea scored 20 points and North Carolina took advantage of cold shooting by Furman to claim an 84-56 victory over the visiting Paladins in Sunday afternoon women's basketball action at Carmichael Arena.

Kea scored the game's first five points to help North Carolina (8-2) grab a 14-2 advantage and a 21-9 lead after Jamie Cherry's 3-pointer beat the first quarter buzzer.

The Tar Heels were never threatened the rest of the way in claiming their sixth consecutive victory.

Kea, a 5-foot-9 redshirt junior guard, connected on 8-of-12 shots, highlighted by 4-of-6 3-pointers.

Furman (7-3) was paced by freshman forward Celena Taborn's game and career high 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field.  The 6-foot-3 Sydney, Ohio, native also converted 7-of-10 free throws in 31 minutes of action.

Le'Jzae Davidson scored 13 points, with 10 coming in a third period that saw the Paladins cut into a North Carolina's 51-20 halftime lead.

The Paladins, who missed 13 of their first 14 shots and their first 10 attempts from 3-point range, finished the game shooting 31.5 percent from the field (18x57).

The Tar Heels connected of 35-of-72 shots (48.6%), including 9-of-20 from beyond the 3-point arc (45.0%).

Taylor Koenen finished with 16 points, and Janelle Bailey added 12 for North Carolina, which fashioned a dominating 46-29 advantage in rebounding led by Jaelynn Murray's 12 game high 12 caroms.

Furman will play Ohio University this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in West Palm Beach, Fla., and on Sunday will face Xavier in a  6:00 p.m. contest, also in West Palm Beach.
