Box Score GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Celena Taborn scored 18 points to lead a parade of four double digit scorers and power Furman past Converse, 80-41, in basketball action Monday evening at Timmons Arena.
Coming off a 19-point, 18-rebound performance in Furman's 58-57 triumph over Chattanooga on Saturday, Taborn, the Paladins' 6-foot-3 freshman forward, fashioned another strong outing in just 17 minutes of action, connecting on 9-of-12 shots and claiming a game high nine rebounds.
Kaitlyn Duncan followed with 12 points and Le'Jzae Davidson and Parker Tompkins finished with 10 each for the Paladins, who improved to 13-8 on the season with the victory.
Head coach Jackie Carson, who chose to rest the Paladins' leading scorer, senior All-SoCon forward Cierra Carter, gave her squad in uniform quality minutes as all 10 players registered double figure minutes.
The Paladins trailed 8-5 but took control of the contest with a 16-0 first quarter run, capped by a Jarya Outten free throw for a 24-8 lead with a minute to go in the opening frame.
Furman led 42-29 at intermission and put the game away with a 29-point third quarter for a 71-39 advantage.
The Paladins dominated the Valkyries on the boards 60-34 and shot 44.9 percent from the field (31x69).
Converse was paced by Abigail Lewis with nine points.
Furman returns to action on Saturday at Wofford in a 2:00 p.m. game.
