Hale Named SoCon Men's Soccer Player Of The Week

Box Score

Greenville, S.C. – Furman goalkeeper Ben Hale has been named Southern Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday morning by the league office.

A redshirt sophomore, Hale paced the Paladins to a pair of victories this past week as Furman (10-4-1, 4-0 SoCon) stretched its winning streak to six matches and extended its unbeaten run to eight matches. After helping Furman to a 2-1 win over rival Wofford last Tuesday, the Frisco, Texas, native stopped seven shots to lead the Paladins to a 2-0 win at ETSU on Saturday evening.

Hale has posted six shutouts and a 0.98 goals against average this season to lead a Furman defense that has surrendered only 14 goals in 15 matches.

The Paladins play for at least a share of the SoCon regular season title and the top seed in the SoCon Men's Soccer Championship when they host Mercer Tuesday night on Seagraves Field at Stone Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the match will be streamed live on the SoCon Digital Network.

Tickets for Tuesday's SoCon home opener are $5 each and can be purchased online at FurmanPaladins.com or at the Stone Stadium entrance beginning one hour prior to kickoff.
