Furman Basketball Signs Boshears, Taylor

Box Score

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman women's basketball coach Jackie Carson announced today the signing of Skylar Boshears and Lindsey Taylor to the Paladins' program.

Boshears, a 5-foot-10 combination guard, averaged 16.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game while shooting 51.9 percent from the field as a junior at Campbell County (3A) High School in LaFollette, Tenn., helping her squad to a 21-10 record, district runner-up finish, and regional semifinal appearance this past spring.

She earned all-district regular season and tournament honors, as well as all-region accolades while topping the career 1,000-point plateau eight games into the campaign.

"Skylar is an amazing talent," said Carson. "Her ability to score and play multiple positions at the guard spot will hopefully create matchup problems for opposing defenses. She has a quiet demeanor but should immediately add additional offensive firepower to our team next season."

Taylor, a 6-foot-1 product from Maryville, Tenn., averaged 10.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and shot 55.5 percent from the field her junior year at Maryville (4AAA) high School, where she helped her squad to second place district finish and region semifinal appearance. She is a two-time all-district regular season and tournament selection.

"Lindsey was one of the best post players I saw on the AAU circuit this summer," said Carson. "Since coming back from an ACL injury before the start of her junior year, she has shown real ability in the paint and stretched her game beyond the 3-point line. She is the true definition of toughness, and her physical play should have an immediate impact in our frontcourt."
