LSU Stops No. 24 Furman's Unbeaten Run, 75-57

Baton Rouge, La. – Tremont Waters scored a game-high 20 points to power LSU to a 75-57 victory over 24th-ranked and previous unbeaten Furman Friday evening at the Pete Maravich Center in Baton Rouge, La.

The loss snapped the Paladins' (12-1) 12-game, season-opening winning streak, while LSU improved to 9-3 on the season.

Leading 49-44 with under 12 minutes to play, LSU outscored the Paladins 26-13 the rest of the way. The Tigers totaled 50 points in the paint, including 32 in the second half, and finished with a 40-22 rebounding edge to snap the Paladins streak of eight consecutive true road wins.

Waters connected on 7-of-18 shots and added seven assists and five rebounds to go with his 20 points. Guard Skylar Mays added 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting, while Kevall Bigby-Williams registered a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards. LSU shot 55.4% from the field and limited the Paladins to 37.5%.

Senior Andrew Brown made 3-of-6 shots from beyond the arc to pace the Paladins with 15 points. Junior Jordan Lyons netted 13 points and sophomore Alex Hunter contributed 12 points and a team-high five rebounds.

Furman will have seven days off before taking on ETSU at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tenn., on December 29.
