Furman's May Named SoCon Men's Soccer Player Of The Week

Box Score

Greenville, S.C. -- Furman's Emery May has been named Southern Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday morning by the league office.

May, a native of Wichita, Kan., netted the Paladins' game-winning goal off of an assist from Jacob Garzon at the 81:38 mark last Tuesday to lead Furman to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over instate rival South Carolina. The goal marked the first of the year for the junior forward.

Furman trailed 1-0 with under 10 minutes to play when Jack Shiels headed in a Danny Kierath corner kick in the 81st minute. Just 46 seconds later, Garzon slid a pass to May following a failed clearance by the Gamecocks and May buried his chance into the right-hand corner to secure the victory.

The Paladins (3-3-0) return to action tonight when they face Clemson at Historic Riggs Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the match will be streamed live on the ACC Network Extra and ESPN3.
