Furman Women's Soccer To Entertain UNCG, VMI This Weekend

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's soccer team begin its Southern Conference home schedule this weekend when it entertains preseason league favorite UNC Greensboro for "Armor Up Night" on Friday night and VMI for the "Paint it Pink" Breast Cancer Awareness Game on Sunday afternoon.

Friday's match between the Paladins and Spartans, who are both undefeated in league play, is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff. All Furman students are encouraged to attend as part of "Armor Up Night", sponsored by SAAC. Sunday's match is set for a 2 p.m. kickoff and fans are asked to wear their pink in support of breast cancer awareness. Several giveaways will take place during the match.

Furman enters the weekend at 6-4-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the SoCon after earning a 1-1 draw at Samford and 1-0 overtime victory at Chattanooga this past weekend. Redshirt-freshman

UNCG (5-5-1, 2-0-0 SoCon) and Furman will be meeting for the 35
th time with the Spartans holding a 17-14-3 series lead. The Spartans downed the Paladins, 2-1, in the SoCon Tournament finals last season after claiming a 1-0 victory in the regular season meeting in Greensboro, N.C. The Paladins have won each of the last three meetings between the schools in Greenville.

Sunday's contest marks the sixth meeting between the Paladins and Keydets (1-9-1, 0-2-0 SoCon). Furman has won each of the previous five encounters, including a 3-0 decision in Lexington, Va., last October.
