Burkhardt Fires Career-Best 68 To Tie For 17th At Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Furman junior Carly Burkhardt (+2) fired a 68 to tie her career best and finish in a tie for 17th place Sunday in the final round of the Landfall Tradition at the par 72, 6,140 yard Pete Dye Course at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.

Burkhardt, a native of Greenville, S.C., started on No. 9 in the shotgun round.  She scored the first of a team-high seven birdies on No. 9 and scored four-straight birdies from No. 15 through No. 18.  She turned at five-under and added an additional birdie on No. 2.  Burkhardt finished the round nine strokes back of individual medalist Priscilla Schmid (-7) of Indiana who posted rounds of 69-72-68=209 for a two-stroke win.

Senior Natalie Srinivasan (+3) recorded a 74 with a birdie on No. 2 in Sunday's round to tie for 26th, and freshmen Caroline Wrigley (+8) and Anna Morgan (+8) tied for 28th.  Wrigley tallied three birdies on the front, scoring birdies on three of four holes from No. 5 through No. 8, and three additional birdies on the back to card a 71 in the final round.  Morgan scored three-consecutive birdies from No. 11 through No. 13 and finished the day with a 78.  Sophomore Sarah-Eve Rhéaume (+22) posted a 78 with three birdies Sunday to finish in 90th place. 

Junior Caitlin Cotterill (+14), who played as an individual, shot an even 72 with birdies on No. 2 and No. 18 in the final round to move into a tie for 64th.

Ninth-ranked South Carolina (-7) led the field with a 283 on Sunday to overtake No. 13 Alabama (-2), who held an 11-stroke lead heading into the final round.  No. 19 Illinois (+5) finished third, followed by 16th-ranked Oklahoma State (+8) in fourth.  No. 37 Florida State (+9) completed the top five.  The 29th-ranked Paladins (+20) concluded the tournament in 10th place. 

The Landfall Tradition concluded Furman's fall schedule.  The Paladins will open the 2020 spring season Feb. 17-18 at the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Fla.
