Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's soccer team looks to get back in the win column and move a step closer to a Southern Conference regular season title when it visits instate rival Wofford for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Tuesday at Snyder Field in Spartanburg, S.C.
The Paladins had their four-match winning streak halted with a 4-3 overtime defeat at Mercer on Saturday night. Following the loss, Furman (9-6-1, 3-1-0 SoCon) trails UNC Greensboro by just three points in the SoCon standings with two league contests remaining, while the Spartans have only one SoCon match left to play.
Defender
Cole McLagan has paced the Paladins with seven goals this season, including five off of set pieces.
Rocky Guerra, who netted two goals on Saturday, and
Conor Sloan have added four goals and six assists apiece.
Furman holds a 37-14-1 lead in the all-time series versus Wofford and has won each of the last two meetings. Last season, the Paladins claimed a 2-1 victory over the Terriers at Stone Stadium when
Dalton Souder and
Danny Kierath erased a 1-0 deficit with goals in the final five minutes of regulation.
Wofford enters Tuesday match at 4-10-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the SoCon following a loss to USC Upstate on Saturday night. The Terriers downed VMI, 3-0, in their last SoCon outing.
