RALEIGH, N.C. -- Junior Jack Crosby (-3) turned in two rounds under par on Saturday to tie for tenth and lead the Furman men's golf team in the opening day of the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at the par 72, 7,358 yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.
Crosby, a native of Memphis, Tenn., fired a 70 with four birdies in the day's first round before notching a team-high six birdies to card a 71 in the second round. Â
Senior Keller Harper (E) and freshman Reynolds Lambert (E) are tied for 22nd after two rounds. Harper posted a 73 with two birdies in round one then scored four birdies to come in at one-under par with a 71 in round two. Lambert carded an even 72 in each round with four birdies in the opener and three birdies in the afternoon.
Senior Matt Lehman (+1) recorded a 73 with three birdies in the morning round then posted an even 72 with three birdies in the afternoon, tying for 30th. Freshman Walker Crosby (+2) is tied for 35th after two rounds after scoring a 73 in each of Saturday's rounds. He tallied four birdies in each round, with consecutive birdies on No. 6 and No. 7 to open round two then a final birdie on No. 5 to close the round. UNC Greensboro's Jonathan Brightwell (-12) leads the field by four strokes after posting rounds of 68 and 64 for a 132 on Saturday. Â
Campbell (-18) holds a four-stroke lead over host N.C. State (-14) after two rounds. UNCG (-12) is in third place, followed by UNC Wilmington (-3) and Augusta (-3), which are tied for fourth. The Paladins (-2) sit in sixth place entering Sunday's final round. Â
Furman will tee off of No. 1 beginning at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday in the final round of the 54-hole tournament and will play in a group with Augusta and UNC Wilmington. Admission is free and fans are welcome. Results and live tournament scoring are available via www.FurmanPaladins.com and www.golfstat.com.
