RALEIGH, N.C. -- Freshman Reynolds Lambert (-7) and senior Keller Harper (-7) each fired a final-round 65 to tie for fifth and lead the Furman men's golf team to a share of third place Sunday at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at the par 72, 7,358 yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.
The Paladin duo played flawless golf, as each tallied seven birdies and 11 pars in Sunday's round, to tie the fifth-best round in Furman men's golf history. Â
Lambert, a native of Mountain Brook, Ala., scored four birdies on the front, including consecutive birdies on No. 3 and No. 4, to turn at 4-under, then added back to back birdies on No. 10 and No. 11 before nailing a final birdie on No. 18. Harper, who hails from Atlanta, Ga., turned at 3-under before posting four-straight birdies on No. 13 through No. 16. Â
Lambert and Harper concluded the day six strokes back of Jonathan Brightwell (-13) of UNC Greensboro, who won individual medalist honors with rounds of 68-64-71=203.
Junior Jack Crosby (E) tied for 19th after posting a 75 with three birdies on Sunday, and freshman Walker Crosby (+4) tallied a 74 with three birdies in the final round to tie for 37th. Senior Matt Lehman (+7) added a 78 with two birdies in Sunday's round, tying for 47th.Â
Host N.C. State (-22) recorded a 280 on Sunday to win the tournament by four strokes over Campbell (-18). The Paladins (-11), who led the field with a 279 in the final round, tied for third with UNC Greensboro (-11), marking the best finish thus far in the 2019 fall season, while UNC Wilmington (-7) rounded out the top five. Â
Furman will compete at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in Johnson City, Tenn., Oct. 11-13.
