SoCon Title On The Line Saturday As Men's Soccer Hosts Belmont In Regular Season Finale

Kickoff Set For 7 p.m. At Stone Stadium

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's soccer team goes in search of its league record 20th Southern Conference regular season title when it hosts the Belmont Bruins for Senior Night on Saturday.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium and the match will be streamed live on the SoCon Digital Network. Tickets for Saturday's regular season finale are $5 and can be purchased online at FurmanPaladins.com or at the Stone Stadium entrance beginning one hour prior to kickoff.

Furman, 10-6-1 overall and 4-1-0 in league play, enters Saturday's contest trailing UNC Greensboro (5-1-0 SoCon) by three points in the SoCon standings. The Spartans have completed their regular season league schedule and Furman holds the tiebreaker on the strength of its head-to-head victory over UNCG, so the Paladins can secure a share of the league title and the No. 1 seed for the SoCon Men's Soccer Championship with a victory over the Bruins (3-10-2, 1-3-1 SoCon) on Saturday.

The Paladins are coming off of a dominating 4-1 decision at Wofford on Tuesday evening that featured two goals from senior forward Connor Hubbard. Senior Jack Shiels and freshman Dylan Lane added goals as the Paladins clinched a bye to the semifinal round of the SoCon Men's Soccer Championship and a home match at Stone Stadium on Sunday, November 10, in postseason play.

Senior defender Cole McLagan has led the Paladins with seven goals this season, while senior midfielder Rocky Guerra has contributed four goals and seven assists. Senior midfielder Conor Sloan has added four goals and six assists in 17 appearances for the Paladins.

This weekend's matchup marks the ninth all-time meeting between the Paladins and Bruins with Furman holding a 7-1-0 series advantage. In 2018, Belmont's inaugural season in the SoCon, Furman topped the Bruins, 4-2, in Nashville, Tenn., before claiming a 4-2 decision in Greenville in the opening round of the SoCon Championship.

Prior to kickoff on Saturday night, Furman will honor its nine seniors, who will be playing their final regular season contest on Seagraves Field.
