Greensboro, N.C. – Alyssa Frazier curled in a free kick in the 17
th minute to put Samford in front and goalkeeper Morgan McAslan stopped eight shots to help the Bulldogs edge Furman, 1-0, in the Southern Conference Women's Soccer Championship Match Sunday afternoon in Greensboro, N.C.
Frazier curled her left-footed effort into the lower right-hand corner from 19 yards out near the top of the box at the 16:40 mark to put Samford (12-3-5) ahead after McAslan had denied Furman's
Jasmine Greene just moments earlier. McAslan stopped three more shots in the opening 45 minutes to help carry the 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Paladins (14-6-1) forced Samford's netminder into four more saves, including a pair of shots from
Isabella Gutierrez, but McAslan kept the clean sheet to earn the tournament's "Most Outstanding Player" honors and help the Bulldogs earn the NCAA Tournament bid.
Furman, who shared the SoCon regular season title with Samford, compiled a 21-9 advantage in total shots in the loss and held an 8-2 edge in shots on goal and on corner kicks. Senior
