Furman Cruises To Victory At Charleston Southern, 91-47

Paladins Race Out To 34-Point First Half Lead

Charleston, S.C. – Clay Mounce scored all of his team-high 19 points in the first half as Furman built a 48-14 halftime lead en route to a 91-47 victory over Charleston Southern Tuesday night at Buccaneer Fieldhouse in Charleston, S.C.

With the victory, Furman improved to 3-0 and claimed its 19th triumph in its last 21 regular season non-conference contests. The Paladins' 44-point win represented its largest margin of victory in a road game since a 114-67 victory at College of Charleston on January 17, 1953.

Mounce drained four triples in the opening 20 minutes, while the Paladins limited the Bucs to 18.2% shooting in the first half, including a 0-for-15 effort behind the arc. Furman shot 53.8% for the game and connected on 11-of-28 three-point tries and 10 of its 11 trips to the foul line. The Paladins posted a 44-28 rebounding margin.

With a 7-for-11 effort from the floor, Mounce paced five Paladins in double figures. Mike Bothwell totaled 12 points and a career-high four assists, while Jordan Lyons and Jalen Slawson contributed 11 points each. Sophomore Noah Gurley notched his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-best 11 rebounds.

Travis Anderson led the Bucs with 14 points. Charleston Southern shot just 32.8% for the game and made only four of its 23 attempts from long range.
