Furman Begins Three-Game Road Trip at Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's basketball team opens a three-game road trip this weekend when it travels to face the Vanderbilt Commodores and Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in a pair of non-conference games.

Furman heads to Nashville, Tenn. on Friday for a 6:30 p.m. tipoff against Vanderbilt before traveling to Murfreesboro, Tenn. on Sunday afternoon to face Middle Tennessee at 3 p.m.

The Paladins are currently on a three-game winning streak following a 70-65 victory over Hampton on Monday to conclude a three-game homestand. Furman used a 19-2 run to begin the fourth quarter and outscored Hampton 28-14 in the period. For the third straight game, the Paladins concluded the contest shooting over 50 percent from the field. Furman posted a 53.5 percent mark overall and held an 11-4 advantage in fast break points.

The Paladins had four players score in double figures led by 19 points, and a career-high seven assists, from Taylor Petty. Tierra Hodges scored 15 points and compiled her second double-double of the season after pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds. Celena Taborn added 13 points and seven rebounds while Le'Jzae Davidson contributed 12 points.

Taborn also set a new career-high of five blocks which tied for sixth-most in a game in school history.

Davidson leads Furman offensively this season with 15.5 points per game while Petty contributes 15.0 points. Hodges is averaging a team-high 7.8 rebounds per game and Milica Manojlovic has dished out 4.0 assists per contest.

Vanderbilt is 3-1 this season after defeating Saint Louis, 62-50, on Sunday afternoon. The Commodores are under the direction of fourth-year head coach Stephanie White.

Middle Tennessee has a 2-1 record this year and hosts Tennessee Tech on Thursday evening before facing Furman on Sunday. The Blue Raiders are led by 15th-year head coach Rick Insell.

The Paladins lead the all-time series over Middle Tennessee 2-1 and are facing Vanderbilt for the first time in program history.

Furman wraps up its three-game road trip on Saturday, November 30 at Gardner-Webb. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
