Greenville, S.C. – The Furman volleyball team closes out the home portion of its schedule this weekend when it hosts Chattanooga and Samford in a pair of SoCon matches at Alley Gymnasium.
Furman opens play on Friday evening when it faces Chattanooga at 6 p.m. The Paladins will hold their Senior Night festivities prior to the match on Saturday against Samford, with first serve also slated for 6 p.m.
The first 30 Furman students in attendance on Friday will receive a $10 food voucher for Friedan. On Saturday, the first 50 fans will get a Furman volleyball t-shirt.
Furman dropped a pair of road matches last weekend at The Citadel (3-2) and Wofford (3-1) to conclude a four-match road trip.
Neci Harris compiled a .517 hitting percentage in the two matches while setting a new career-high with 21 kills at Wofford.
Nicole Mack collected her team-leading tenth double-double of the season at The Citadel while
Katie Murphy recorded her fourth.
Mack leads the Paladins offensively this season with 285 kills (3.56 per set) and is joined by
Courtney Hoffman with 231 and Harris with 222. Murphy has dished out a team-leading 846 assists (9.40 per set). Defensively,
Andrea Aceveda has a team-best 359 digs (4.38 per set) and Hoffman adds 79.0 total blocks (19 solo, 60 assisted).
Chattanooga currently sits at 5-20 on the season and is 0-12 in conference play after falling 3-0 on Wednesday against Mercer. The Mocs are led by ninth-year head coach Travis Filar.
Samford is 17-5 overall this year and has an 11-1 record in the SoCon following a pair of home wins last weekend against Wofford and Mercer. The Bulldogs are under the direction of fourth-year head coach Keylor Chan.
Furman leads the all-time series over Samford 18-14 while holding a 46-24 advantage over Chattanooga. The Paladins fell to Samford 3-0 earlier this season and rallied for a 3-2 win over Chattanooga.
