Women's Soccer To Face Samford In SoCon Championship Sunday Afternoon

Kickoff On ESPN+ Set For 2 p.m.

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's soccer team is set to face No. 1 seed Samford in the finals of the Southern Conference Women's Soccer Championship Sunday in Greensboro, N.C. Kickoff at UNCG Stadium is set for 2 p.m. and the match will be streamed live on ESPN+.

The Paladins (14-5-1) earned their spot in the finals and a chance at their seventh SoCon Tournament title by downing host UNC Greensboro, 1-0, Friday evening. Sophomore Isabella Gutierrez netted the lone goal at the 2:19 mark on an assist from redshirt freshman Kyndal Anderson. After a scoreless draw on Friday afternoon, Samford advanced past Mercer on penalty kicks to earn its spot in the finals.

Sunday's league championship will mark the 17th all-time meeting between the Paladins and Bulldogs with Samford holding an 8-5-3 series lead. The schools played to a 1-1 draw in the regular season on September 27, in Birmingham, Ala., before sharing the SoCon regular season title. The Paladins eliminated Samford from last year's tournament in the semifinal round, 2-0, on a pair of goals from Gutierrez.

A win would give Furman its first tournament title and NCAA Tournament berth since 2015.
