Srinivasan Leads Glass City Invitational After Two Rounds

TOLEDO, OHIO -- Senior Natalie Srinivasan (-4) fired a 70 in each of Monday's rounds to lead the field in the opening day of the inaugural Glass City Invitational at the par 72, 6,249 yard Iverness Club in Toledo, Ohio. 

A native of Spartanburg, S.C., Srinivasan birdied No. 6 and turned at even par in the day's first round.  She scored consecutive birdies on No. 10 and No. 11 and added a team-high fourth birdie on No. 16 to sit in a tie for first at the end of round one.  In the afternoon round, she birdied No. 2 and again turned at even par before birdieing two out of her first three on the back.  She holds a one-stroke lead over Sierra Brooks (-3) of Florida heading into Tuesday's final round. 

"Today was a long, tough day, and I was able to just stay patient and focus on each shot," said Srinivasan at the conclusion of Monday's play.  "It was very cool to play such a history course as Inverness, and I am grateful to be able to compete this week!"

Junior Carly Burkhardt (+3), who is playing as an individual, is tied for 12th after scoring a 73 with birdies on No. 13 and No. 16 in round one and adding a 74 with three birdies in the day's second round.  Junior Madison Moosa (+5) shot a 77 in the first round and rebounded with an even 72 with three birdies on the back in round two.  She enters Tuesday's round tied for 23rd.

Freshman Caroline Wrigley (+6) is tied for 30th following the completion of Monday's play.  She recorded a 78 with two birdies in round one and posted an even 72 with three birdies in the afternoon round.  Freshman Anna Morgan (+8) recorded an even 72 in the morning with three birdies than added an 80 with two birdies in the afternoon to tie for 40th, and sophomore Kyra Cox (+11) scored rounds of 79 and 76 with three birdies on the day, tying for 52nd.

No. 8 Florida (+5) holds a two-stroke lead over 19th-ranked Michigan State (+7) after two rounds of play.  No. 16 Illinois (+9) sits in third, while Furman (+11) is tied for fourth place with Michigan.  

The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday.  Furman will tee off of No. 1 beginning at 8 a.m. and will play in a group with Baylor, Texas A&M, and Northwestern.  Admission to the tournament is free and fans are welcome.  Live tournament scoring will also be available via www.golfstat.com.
