Greenville, S.C. – Furman men's soccer returns to Seagraves Field and Stone Stadium Saturday evening when it faces the USC Upstate Spartans for Hall of Fame Night. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the match will be streamed live on the SoCon Digital Network.
 
At halftime of Saturday's match, Furman will honor former Paladin midfielder Matt Goldsmith, who will be inducted into the Furman Athletics Hall of Fame this weekend. Goldsmith, a native of Roswell, Ga., helped the Paladins to a 71-15-1 overall record and 31-1 SoCon mark from 1998-2001.  A four-time All-SoCon selection, he keyed the Paladins to four consecutive league regular season championships, three conference tournament championships, and three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a school-best Elite Eight showing in 1999. A three-time NSCAA All-South Region selection and two time All-America pick by the NSCAA, he scored 12 goals and registered 14 assists in his career and holds Furman career standards for games played and started. 
 
Furman enters Saturday's contest at 4-2-1 on the season after suffering a 3-0 defeat at South Carolina on Wednesday night that snapped the Paladins' four-match winning streak and five-match unbeaten run. Defender Cole McLagan has paced the Paladins with five goals this season, while fellow senior Emery May, the reigning SoCon Offensive Player of the Week, has added three goals and two assists.
 
The Paladins sport a 7-3-2 record in 12 previous meetings versus the Spartans, including a 1-0 victory in Spartanburg, S.C., last season. USC Upstate enters this weekend's matchup at 1-3-0 following a 2-0 win versus Stetson on Sunday.
