GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Senior Natalie Srinivasan (-1) fired a second-round 70 on Saturday to tie for fourth as the No. 18 Furman women's golf team maintained its hold on second place at the 46th Annual Lady Paladin Invitational at the par-72, 6,278-yard Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.
Srinivasan, a native of Spartanburg, S.C., scored three birdies on the front nine, including back to back birdies on No. 7 and No. 8, to turn at 2-under, then added a team-high fourth birdie on No. 13. She finished the round four strokes back of leader Lorena Tseng (-5) of Tulsa who leads the field by three strokes after posting rounds of 71-68=139. Â
Freshman Anna Morgan (+1) enters Sunday's final round tied for 10th after shooting a 73 with birdies on No. 2 and No. 13 on Saturday, and junior Carly Burkhardt (+4) and rookie Caroline Wrigley (+4) are tied for 19th after two rounds. Burkhardt tallied a 74 with three birdies on the back nine, while Wrigley shot a 75 with a birdie on No. 2 on Saturday. Junior Madison Moosa (+7) recorded a 77 with two birdies in round two and is tied for 29th.Â
The Paladins have four individuals in the field. Senior Marra Burton (+11) carded a 74 with birdies on No. 11 and No. 16 on Saturday to tie for 47th, while sophomore Kyra Cox (+12) notched three birdies for a second-round 76, tying for 52nd. Junior Caitlin Cotterill (+14) is tied for 60th after scoring an 84 with three birdies in round two, and sophomore Sarah-Eve Rhéaume (+15) tallied a 76 with birdies on No. 2 and No. 8 to tie for 66th.
Top-ranked Wake Forest (-1) extended its advantage to nine strokes after leading the field with a 289 on Saturday. The Paladins (+8) sit in second heading into the final round, followed by North Florida (+16) in third. UNC Wilmington (+17) moved up two spots to fourth, and Kansas (+2) remains in fifth after the second round of play.Â
The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Sunday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Furman will tee off of holes No. 1 through No. 3 and will play in a group with Wake Forest and North Florida. Admission to the tournament is free and fans are welcome. Results and live tournament scoring are available via www.FurmanPaladins.com and www.golfstat.com.
