Wofford held Furman scoreless for the first 5:59 while Goodwin scored 10 of the Terriers' 12 points to build a 12-0 advantage. The Paladins trimmed the margin to 17-10 and had three chances to claw closer, but Hoover drained a triple to ignite a 17-8 spurt that gave the Terriers a 34-18 lead at the half.

Furman cut the margin to eight points at 49-41 when the Paladins held Wofford without a point for over four minutes and Mike Bothwell connected on a three from the top of the key with 7:06 left. The Terriers, however, answered with their second decisive run of the game when Goodwin rebounded a miss and scored in the paint before Hoover and Trevor Stumpe drained back-to-back three-pointers to start a 15-2 run that gave Wofford a 64-43 lead on Hoover's layup with 3:03 to play.
