NASHVILLE, TENN. -- Two Paladin indoor track and field records fell this weekend at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tenn.
The Furman women's distance medley relay team of seniors Emma Grace Hurley and Gabbi Jennings, junior Emma Kuntz, and freshman Abigail Robertson recorded a time of 11:28.98 to take second place on Friday, knocking over 10 seconds off the previous Paladin record of 11:39.35, set in 2019.
On the men's side, senior Ryan Adams posted a sub-4:00 mile, crossing the line in 3:57.66, also finishing second, and topping the previous Furman best of 4:02.91, tallied in 2017 by Troy Reeder.
Other top finishes on the women's side included a second-place finish by Hurley with a time of 4:51.70 in the mile and a third-place finish by senior Savannah Carnahan at 9:29.38 in the 3,000m. Also in the 3,000m, freshman Lauren Peterson set a new personal best with a time of 9:48.83, finishing 15th. Seniors Grace Dwyer and Jennifer Stephenson were just shy of personal records with times of 9:53.01 and 10:14.60, respectively. Kuntz posted a time of 2:10.76 in the 800m, good for seventh place.
For the men, senior Aaron Wier recorded a time of 4:02.83 in the mile, placing ninth, and sophomore Cameron Ponder claimed 11th in the mile at 4:05.81. Junior Daniel Bernal crossed the line in 4:08.68 for 15th place. Three Paladin freshmen set personal bests in the 800m: Nick Epstein at 1:56.32, Mac Roberts with a time of 1:58.80, and Justin Hager at 1:59.19. All five Paladin men who competed in the 3,000m set personal records. The Paladins were led by freshman David Ahlmeyer with a time of 8:22.16 for tenth place and sophomore Noah Dolhare in 11th place with a time of 8:22.29.
The Paladins will compete at the Dr. Sander Invitational/Columbia Challenge in New York, N.Y., on January 25.
