GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman and Tennessee Tech have reached agreement to play a pair of football games, meeting first in 2021 and again in 2023, it has been announced.
The Paladins and Golden Eagles will play in Cookeville, Tenn., on Sept. 11, 2021, and in Greenville, S.C., on Sept. 2, 2023.
The 2021 contest will mark the first meeting in football between the two schools since 1976 when the Paladins claimed a 17-7 win in Cookeville. Â The Golden Eagles won the series inaugural with a 17-5 verdict in 1975 at Greenville's Sirrine Stadium.
Furman kicks off its 2020 campaign at home on Sept. 5 versus Wofford.
The Paladins, coming off an 8-5 campaign that included a FCS playoff appearance and No. 19 final ranking, are coached by
Clay Hendrix, who is entering his fourth year at the program's helm.
