Furman to Face Western Carolina Saturday in SoCon Women’s Basketball Action

Tip Off is Scheduled for 2 p.m.

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's basketball team continues its three-game homestand on Saturday afternoon when it entertains the Western Carolina Catamounts at 2 p.m. inside Timmons Arena.

Tickets for Saturday's game, and all of the Paladins' remaining home games, are on sale now at the Timmons Arena Box Office and online at www.furmanpaladins.com.

Furman (12-7, 3-2 SoCon) began its homestand on Thursday evening with a 59-53 loss to UNC Greensboro. Le'Jzae Davidson scored a season-high 26 points to lead the Paladins offensively and Taylor Petty contributed 10. Tierra Hodges poured in nine points and matched her season-high of 14 rebounds. Milica Manojlovic tied her career-high of nine rebounds and dished out four assists.

Furman concluded the game shooting 37.9 percent from the field and held a 42-37 advantage in rebounds. The Paladins also led 16-11 in second chance points.

Davidson leads Furman offensively averaging a team-best 15.1 points per game while Hodges contributes a double-double of 11.6 points and a team-leading 10.1 rebounds per game. Petty adds 10.3 points per game. Manojlovic dishes out a team-high 4.8 assists per game.

Western Carolina (3-16, 0-4 SoCon) is coming off a 76-63 defeat at Wofford on Thursday evening in Spartanburg. Jewel Smalls leads the Catamounts this season averaging a double-double of 13.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Lauren LaPlant also contributes 11.2 points per contest. Western Carolina is under the direction of first-year head coach Kiley Hill.

The Paladins are facing the Catamounts for the 80th time in program history on Saturday with Furman leading the all-time series 44-35. The Paladins have won each of the past four meetings in a series that dates back to the 1975-76 season.

Furman closes out its homestand, as well as non-conference schedule, on Monday evening at 7 p.m. versus Bob Jones.
