Greenville, S.C. – The COVID-19 pandemic forced the postponement of Furman's soccer season to the spring of 2021, but plenty of former Paladins have been busy representing the program at the professional level in recent months.
Lewis Hawke – Forward – Montrose F.C. (Scottish League One)
Hawke, who paced Furman to Southern Conference Tournament titles in 2014 and 2015, joined Scottish League One side Montrose F.C. earlier this year. The striker netted his first goal for the club on November 10, scoring in Scottish League Cup action against his former club, Stirling Albion.
Alec Kann – Goalkeeper – Atlanta United (MLS)
Kann recently completed his fourth season with Atlanta United. Primarily serving as the reserve goalkeeper, Kann has logged 19 started and posted a 9-7-3 record for Atlanta United over the past four seasons. As a Paladin, Kann garnered All-SoCon and USC All-South honors, while helping Furman reach the NCAA Tournament in 2011 with a 14-4-4 mark.
Kyle McLagan – Defender – Fram Reykjavik (Lengjudeild)
Former Furman center back Kyle McLagan joined Fram Reykjavik in Iceland's second division from Denmark side FC Roksilde in August. After scoring three goals in 27 appearances earlier this year in Denmark, has logged playing time in eight matches for his new club. McLagan earned first team All-SoCon accolades at Furman while leading the Paladins to multiple league championships before graduating in 2018.
Shea Salinas – Winger – San Jose Earthquakes (MLS)
A 13-year MLS veteran, Shea Salinas is playing his ninth consecutive season with the San Jose Earthquakes. He has appeared in 23 matches and netted two goals to go with two assists this season. He scored a thriller game-winner in a 4-3 win over Vancouver in July and has assisted on goals in victories over LAFC and Real Salt Lake during the past three weeks. Salinas earned United Soccer Coaches All-American and Scholar All-American honors as a senior at Furman in 2007.
Laurence Wyke – Midfielder – Atlanta United (MLS)
Signed by Atlanta United FC from ATL UTD2 in March, Wyke made seven appearances and notched two starts in his first season in MLS. The Bolton, England, native earned 2017 SoCon Player of the Year honors as a Paladin and paced Furman to a SoCon Tournament title and NCAA second round berth as a senior in 2018.
Walker Zimmerman – Defender – Nashville SC (MLS)
A member of the United States National Team since 2017, Zimmerman joined expansion side Nashville SC this season and tallied three goals and an assist while starting 22 matches at center back. An MLX Best XI choice in 2019, Zimmerman netted Nashville's first goal in February in its inaugural game versus Kann and Wyke's Atlanta United side. He was a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-American at Furman and earned SoCon Freshman of the Year honors in 2011.
